We send you Copies of Informations against Charles Clarke who has been committed to Lancaster Castle by us for being active in burning Mr. Rothwell’s Rope walk.
We also send Copies of Informations we have this day taken against James Lyon an active person in the nocturnal Assemblies that have been lately held, we have remanded this prisoner having doubts what offence he should be charged with, as if his offence does not amount to Treason, he will perhaps be entitled to Bail we should feel happy in receiving your directions on this Case before we either commit or admit to Bail the prisoner.
We have this day also Committed to Lancaster Castle four other Prisoners—viz. John Hurst and Peter Topping for been present at administering the Oath to Holland Bowden and Samuel Radcliffe and Robt. Woodward for being active in the Mob at the burning of the Westhoughton Factory. The Copies of the Informations against these last mentioned prisoners we cannot get ready for this Evening's Post but they shall be forwarded as early as possible.
