On Tuesday 4th February the Royal Buckinghamshire Militia arrived in Nottingham: in total 800 troops, the first division arriving in the afternoon in 19 waggons, and the second division at 8 p.m. in 22 waggons. The militia also brought along 2 field guns in tow, being a show of force rather than having any tactical use. They had left their barracks at Woodbridge in Suffolk at 7 p.m. on the previous Friday, 31st January.
As reported in the Leeds Mercury of 15th February 1812 (quoting the Nottingham Review of 7th February 1812) and the Derby Mercury of 13th February 1812.
