11th March 1812: 'Black Tom' apprehended in Portsmouth

On Wednesday 11th March, Williams Wells aka 'Black Tom' was committed to the County Gaol in Derby. He was wanted for burglaries in 3 counties, and his name had been published on a wanted list in January. He was apprehended in Portsmouth on board an East Indiaman ship.

As reported in the Derby Mercury of 12th March 1812.
