7th March 1812: Troop movements

On the morning of Saturday 7th March, the Scotch Greys stationed at Leeds left the area for Manchester. The previous Thursday the 5th, the Second Dragoon Guards had marched into Leeds in anticipation of this movement of troops.

The Leeds Mercury noted that in Manchester "there is collected a large military force, not less than 6,000 men."
