3rd September 1812: Arms raid at Greenroyd, near Halifax

In the evening of Thursday 3rd September 1812, the home of a man called Mr. Beeston at Greenroyd was raided by between 12-15 Luddites in search of arms. The Luddites demanded Beeston's pistols: he protested that he had none, and offered them another type of gun instead. Beeston tried to engage the Luddites in conversation, but they refused and left, telling him to lock up his home.
