On Wednesday 17th June 1812, Thomas Allsop, the Secretary of the Leicester Committee of Framework-knitters was arrested, charged with writing a threatening letter to Henry Wood signed 'N. Ludd': the insinuations contained in the handbill put out by the Leicester Hosiery firm Ann Wood & Co had worked. He would be tried at the forthcoming Leicester Summer Assizes.
As reported in the Leicester Journal of 19th June 1812.
