16th May 1812: A Luddite-baiter is shot in Nottingham

On Saturday 16th May 1812, a Mr. Gaunt from Hucknall Torkard, a 'gentleman who had been particularly active in discovering the Luddites' (according to the Leeds Mercury) was shot in that town. At the time of writing, it was not clear whether or not he would live.
