After a six-day forced march from Ipswich, the Royal Berkshire Militia finally arrive in Nottingham in the evening, led by Lieutenant-Colonel Ravenshaw. The regiment requisitioned waggons along their route to hasten their journey, owing to news (which turned out to be false) that there had been a large outbreak of frame-breaking in the town of Nottingham.
The regiment was later stationed in detachments in many of the villages that had been most affected by frame-breaking.
As recorded in the Derby Mercury of 19th December 1811.
