4th September 1812: Lieutenant-Colonel Wollaston reports the Luddite attack at Southowram

Halifax Sepm. 4th 1812.

Sir

I am sorry to have it in my power to report to you the total destruction of all the machinery part of a Gig-Mill within less than a mile of this place last night—

They must have watched the passing of our Patroles, as one party went very near the Mill — All our Patroles were accompanied by a Constable—
